We are the oldest red wine only wine estate in South Africa and home to the Iconic Alto Rouge red blend.

Our restaurant has a small indulgent menu; using fresh, locally sourced ingredients our chef creates hearty, flavourful dishes that pair perfectly with our wines.

    The line fish was not fresh and overvalued. The service washers slow, we had a waiting time of one hour for the main and 15 Minutes for the espresso.

    I gave all items 5-star, as I really couldn't find any fault. Harold was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing! I take all my overseas family to Alto, as it is just such a homey, but also upmarket venue and the Biltong and Wine pairing is an absolute must.

    We had a great time at Alto everything was great our waiter Likho was knowledgeable about wines and dishes and recommended wines to eats with dishes. Food were all great and service was impeccable. Will definitely be back.

    We have been to several other lovely restaurants on vineyards across Somerset West and Stellenbosch. They have all had great food and wine, BUT service was always a problem. Inattention, staff on phones not paying attention, generally slow, slow, slow… BUT not Alto. Service always great, especially Harold who was attentive, charming, and accommodating. Well done all round!
