Named after the year in which Steenberg was established, Bistro Sixteen82 first opened its doors in 2009, and has been the tapas and bistro-style darling of the dining world ever since.

An innovative and interactive wine and food destination, the Bistro sits adjacent to Steenbergs winery, and spills into its surrounding indigenous gardens with a terraced dining area leading to reflective water features, unfurling into views of the magnificent stone mountains and expansive winelands.

The Bistro Sixteen82 menu is a constant evolution, keeping up with seasonal produce and featuring inventive dishes that compliment the finest locally sourced ingredients. With Breakfast, Lunch and late-afternoon Tapas menus to choose from, the Bistro provides fine dining with an inimitable contemporary spirit.

Executive Chef, Kerry Kilpin, love to create food which is seasonal, flavourful and bursts with freshness. My greatest inspirations are derived from significant occasions in my life. On my travels to Thailand I developed a love and passion for Asian food. From shopping at the local food markets to creating my first authentic Thai dish, I was in heaven. You will notice a common thread in what I do and who I am. Love. I cook with love and my food is love.

Always outstanding. Toilets have electric dryers rather than paper towels which is why I did not give htat 5 stars

Whilst the food was good (3 great starters, 2 of 3 mains also great), the entire experience was the worst I've ever endured. A special occasion (Fathers Day) always meant the restaurant was likely to be busy, but Bistro 1682 obviously place quantity over quality at their clientele expense. My wife, son and I were prebooked and allocated an indoor table literally 75cm from a swing door leading to the outside terrace and further tables. We had a constant flow of guests and staff, virtually on top of us, throughout our meal. The fact that it was a windy day and the door needed to be opened and closed repetitively (probably 2/3 times per minute... no exaggeration), made matters worse. Our waiter was apologetic, both for the "traffic and noise", and for the 30mins wait between our starters and mains... another indication of quantity over quality. He agreed that the table we sat at simply should not have been there for reservation or allocation to pre booked clientele. Overall experience was therefore zero out of ten. This is a fairly upmarket restaurant (we paid circa R800 per head for a 2 course meal, with minmal beverages) so in terms of both value for money plus overall service we had a horrendous experience
