A Huge Thank You: I recently celebrated my dearest friend's birthday with High Tea at The Saxon Hotel, and I simply have to share how truly special the experience was for both of us. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth that it set the tone for the entire morning. The management and staff clearly understand that hospitality is about more than service — it is about making guests feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. And that is exactly what they did. The setting was elegant and serene, the perfect backdrop for a morning of celebration and quiet conversation. Every detail of the High Tea was thoughtfully presented — beautifully crafted, delicious, and served with such grace and attentiveness that we felt utterly spoiled. Nothing was rushed, nothing overlooked. It was clear the team took real pride and care in making the occasion feel personal and memorable. What touched me most was the sincerity behind it all. It is one thing to deliver excellent food and impeccable service, which The Saxon does beautifully — but it is another thing entirely to make two guests feel like the most important people in the room on a quiet morning. That is a rare gift, and one this team gives so generously. My friend left with a smile, and I left with a heart full of gratitude. Thank you to the entire management and staff at The Saxon Hotel for creating a special birthday Saxon High Tea, and allowing us to create another memory we will treasure for years to come. With heartfelt thanks, Mandy

Just a little disappointed that the menu hasn’t changed since we came in July 2025. Previously when I had been, the menu was different so I was surprised that almost a year later we were being served the exact same treats. Still a great experience though.

They could've done better, the tea spread had missing items, people think we don't read menus and they can improvise, I was given a lone chicken skewer that was meant to be accompanied by mustard and apple slaw, there was none, it was my fault for not reporting it immediately.. The size for the gluten free items was miniscule and of lower quality that the usual ones, I saw for instance I was given huge amounts of condiments for one flat scone.. when I say what was meant to be a mushroom sandwich was a size of a two rand coin, they need to specify and say mini cheesecake, mini macaroon, the bean casulet with a crack was ok, the tiny cracker with salmon.. I would say in comparison to what I have experienced at Fairlawns Hotel and 54 on bath at a lower price, the quality and value was much better.. The Saxon has a standard to uphold, being served my spread by someone who was still learning who'd lean and peek at the spread and not doing this passionately was unfortunately.. the lady who welcomed me and served the tea was stellar at her work.. My journey from booking till my birthday with the Saxon leaves a lot to be desired, unacknowledged proof of payments, unresponsive and having systems that are not smooth.. In the duration of my bookings I had to complain about name misspelling, name written in all small letters, and ignored emails.. I spoke to the general Gustav whom instead of acknowledging comes with excuses and make my complains seem like an anomaly... I've never had to fight for great service like I did from one of the best and Renowned hotels in Johannesburg.. The Saxon do better..
