In the early 1940s, wine farmers in the Perdeberg region grew dissatisfied with the low prices they were getting for their premium quality grapes. Then an astute farmer named Jan Rossouw suggested they begin producing their own wine and Perdeberg Cellar was born! We pressed our first grapes manually in 1942 and while we have come a long way in terms of technology, we are still renowned for our hands-on approach!

I called Saturday morning to make a booking for the afternoon. I asked if they have any availability for the afternoon the lady said yes the do, my response was it will be for 5 people at 15h00. She told me she’ll have to check with the restaurant cause the tasting room was already fully booked, she called back after 10 min saying unfortunately they won’t be able to accommodate us cause they are fully booked in the tasting room as well as the restaurant but they can accommodate us the Sunday. I told her no it’s fine cause we wanted to come on Saturday. My sister also called (not knowing I already called) they told her the same. I went online and booked a table for the afternoon 15h00 and got a confirmation. When we arrived surprise surprise most of the tables were empty. I was so disappointed there were a group in the tasting room most of the tables were empty. In the restaurant were like two tables. The tasting was amazing but the food wasn’t that great. Sherman and Kelly was great but the way but the other lady working in the restaurant side just looked upset and I’m pretty sure she’s the one I spoke to on the phone almost like she’s angry we were there and couldn’t wait for us to leave. Hate to say it but I won’t be going back really loved the tasting but some of the stuff not all

We made a booking for the Braai Picnic for R495-00 for two adults. We first did a wine tasting, which was great and tasted a few Chenin Blanc Wines. When it was time for the Braai Picnic, we were told we can enjoy it in the tasting room. We also ordered a bottle of wine at the tasting room to enjoy with the braai picnic. The roosterkoeke were delicious, but the Chicken thigh and pepper kebabs needed some more cooking. The Lamb braai chops were cold and tasted like mutton meat. The Boerewors spirals were also delicious with the salads and we enjoyed the cheese cake dessert. A shocker was, when it was time to pay, the same venue split our bills for the picnic and bottle of wine and the tasting on another bill, with a different waiter bringing each bill. Is this to get tips for staff ????? Otherwise we enjoyed our visit and a must visit for people enjoying Chenin Blanc wines.
