The Blockman is a place to celebrate life. It’s a place where the people who work there know you by name. It’s a place for parties, a place to dine with family and friends. Head Chef & Owner Vassilios Holiasmenos has taken a new approach for the Blockman. With a menu that celebrates all aspects of the animals we use. We cut out the middlemen and focus on the process of breaking down and aging all our meat using the whole animal in celebration of its flavours and textures.

    I will not go back to the Parkhurst branch but will to the Nicolway branch. I had dinner with my daughter and husband for his birthday. Although there were many tables available in the main section of the restaurant, being much airier and a better ambience, we were seated downstairs which was extremely different from the main part of the restaurant. The waiter was not very enthusiastic when called to fetch us from the entrance and had to be called twice. He also was not at our table after main meals to ask if we wanted anything else and disappeared. We had to be served desert and coffee by another waiter He eventuality arrived to give us the bill and did not thank me for the 15% tip I still gave him regardless. My daughter had the starter oysters, which was good and my husband and I shared the Chilli bites and pork scratching's. The chilli bites were Biltong which was not advertised as such and being a non-beef eater, I was very disappointed, as this should have been advertised as such on the menu. The Pork Scratching's was tasteless and lacked any flavour, which is a far cry from the Nicolway branch. It was also extremely hard and was difficult to bite into, let alone chew. The steaks my daughter and husband had was great. My sole though lacked flavour and was oily. Again, very different at Nicolway branch. The cauliflower and cheese side also lacked flavour with the Cauliflower being under cooked and hard. However, the mint ice-cream and Irish Coffee were excellent. One of the nicest Mint choc ice-creams I have had in ages.

    We had a wonderful experience at The Blockman Parkhurst. The food was amazing and the service excellent. We were seated downstairs, and it was very loud in there, so much so that my partner and I struggled to hear each other. A small criique would be that the chicken liver paté was a very generous size with a very small piece of bread that accompanied it, I had to ask for more bread due to the generous size of the paté. All said, I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

    Everyone was so attentive. The music was beautiful which created a wonderful ambience. he food was spectacular.

    I had a wagyu, fried rice, caviar, truffle as starter. The fried rice is abit too big, should be much smaller. There was no caviar on it, it was salmonrow. No taste of truffle either so abit of a let down. Inside the restaurant it was difficult to hear eachother talking. The acoustics should be better. The meat is great, nice choice of wet aging and dry aging.

    First time In Joberg and friends had recommended Blockman. Had the Tomahawk and was one of the best I’ve ever had. Staff and meals were truly exceptional. Thank you for a memorable evening…
