    Disappointing experience We recently visited The Bungalow in Cape Town to celebrate my dad’s 50th birthday. We were a party of four and had communicated the occasion both when making the booking and again to our waiter. On a positive note, the Dineplan booking portal was excellent , seamless, easy to use and worked perfectly. I would definitely use it again for future bookings. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience itself was disappointing. When we arrived, there was no table prepared for us despite having mentioned the birthday, and the arrival experience felt rather disorganised. Our waiter was absolutely amazing in the beginning and made a great first impression. However, halfway through dinner, the service declined significantly. After our meal, he disappeared for around 40 minutes without checking on drinks, clearing the table or asking if we needed anything further. He later explained that he had been attending to tables inside, but the restaurant was not particularly busy and there were several other waiters on the floor. The food was genuinely great, which made the experience even more disappointing. We had hoped to end the evening with a birthday cake or at least a nice dessert to celebrate the occasion, but after waiting so long and feeling neglected, we ultimately just paid the bill and left frustrated. As owners of five restaurants ourselves, we understand the hospitality industry and the effort required to create a memorable experience. We therefore genuinely expected more, particularly for such a special occasion that we had communicated beforehand. I’m sure The Bungalow can be a great restaurant and perhaps our experience was simply an unfortunate exception. However, based on our visit, it unfortunately left us disappointed and we won’t be returning.

    The quality of service was exceptional. Food was well prepared and served timeously without delays. Complete experience was worth every cent. Highly recommended.
