Villa Bianca has just released its new menu incorporating Sushi and emphasis is on fresh imported Scottish Salmon as well as fresh export quality Tuna, both of which are now available on the normal menu in the form of: Grilled Salmon, Seared Tuna Steak, or the delicious Tuna Espatada which is cubed Tuna Steaks grilled and skewered with Haloumi cheese, red peppers, green peppers and onions served with rice or chips and Japanese style stir fried vegetables, Fillet on the Bone prepared in Villa Bianca’s favourite way; “Chateau Briand Style”, topped with pan-fried Camembert Cheese and a Cranberry reduction.

    The fish was over cooked. On numerous occasions we had to look for our waiter.

    Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant experience although this restaurant has rave reviews. We celebrated our daughter's birthday here in June but was highly disappointed. Visited especially cos there were oysters on the menu only to find out there was none available when we arrived (we found 4 in the tank on our way out..). There are 4 oyster dish options as a standard on the menu with not even a note stating these may only be available 'in season'. We ended up having sushi and a recommended garlic prawn dish for starters which left much to the imagination. We are just glad we did not come on a sushi buffet day as this would have been a waste of money.. although we did try booking once for 10 people only to be told they do not book for tables larger than 8.. lucky us! Sushi was mediocre to say the least for what we paid for it, very heavy and too big to chew in one bite. The deep fried sushi was so full of used oil, that it left a weird nauseous taste in your mouth. The prawn starter was actually served like garlic snails - yes, 6 small overcooked prawns in a snail serving dish which lacked any flavour at all.. no salt or even garlic.. and cost? R 200 - yes, for a starter! We ended up going straight for just one dessert, the Strawberry Nutella pancakes (flambeed at the table) which was another disaster even though our waiter was so skilful and proud with how he prepared it - presentation was highly lacking. Only good thing we took from the night was the service. Enzo is an awesome waiter who made sure we were well taken care of. Although, we did not have our 3-course dinner planned, we left him a really good tip as this was not his fault. It's just questionable who tastes the food coming out of the kitchen and how do the prices justify the food served - flavourwise and presentation. For what you're expected to pay at this establishment, I expected top notch food but my local Spur serves food tastier and more presentable than this restaurant.
