‘kruijdjie-roer-my-nie’ luncheon
The meaning behind ‘kruijdjie-roer-my-nie’
Kruijd is of Dutch origin, meaning “herb” or “spice.”
A direct translation of the Afrikaans saying ‘kruijdjie-roer-my-nie’ is “a state of not wanting to be bothered.”
A Sunday lunch at Kruijd is an invitation to slow down, settle in, and savour the simple pleasure of being present — through food, wine, nature, and the company around you. Our Kruijd luncheons are a mindful feast, inviting you to be fully present and aware of where you are and what you are experiencing. It is an opportunity to step away from the noise of everyday life and simply be — unhurried, undisturbed, and connected to your surroundings.
A considered experience shaped by the seasons, the land, the quiet rhythm of the farm, and the simple art of being in the moment.
R2 650 (2026) / R2950 (2027) per person includes a three-course meal with a curated wine selection featuring a different wine cultivar alongside each course.
Our approach:
Our approach on the farm is inspired by the natural and organic resources provided by the land and the surrounding communities.
Days at Kruijd begin early, when the meadows hang in mist, and the cool dawn air fills with birdsong and the chirping of insects. As the sun rises over the aromatic fruit trees of the Kruijd farm, we begin harvesting the herbs and spices that will eventually find their way into the Kruijd kitchen, where morning preparations are already underway.
We invite you to sit down for an unbothered food experience, as we share our mindful meals with you.

Our luncheons take place once a month on a Sunday. Arrival time is at 11:30.

We invite our guests to fully immerse themselves in the Kruijd experience — a place to slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy the simple pleasures of good food and meaningful conversation. In keeping with the nature of our luncheon experience, we have a child policy of 10 years and older.
As we host a limited number of 32 guests per experience, the full cost is applicable. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Our menu & dietary considerations:
Our luncheon experience is thoughtfully curated from start to finish, with the menu designed around the ingredients, flavours and inspiration of the season.
We kindly ask our guests to embrace the menu as it has been created and to experience the dishes as intended by our kitchen. We are able to accommodate life-threatening food allergies where we are notified in advance, but unfortunately cannot accommodate general dietary preferences, intolerances or lifestyle choices.
We are also unable to offer vegan menus, as creating alternative dishes would alter the carefully considered experience we wish to share.
We appreciate your understanding and hope you will allow us to take you on the full Kruijd culinary journey.
Middagslapie:
We are delighted to announce that Kruijd now offers only 12 exclusive one-night stays each year.
We call it our Middagslapie — a rare opportunity to step into the world of Kruijd for a single, unforgettable night. Surrender to nature, welcome stillness, and rediscover the simple joy of slowing down.
To include our Middagslapie experience with your luncheon, kindly email us at kruijd@kraak.co.za .
Cancellations made 7 days prior to the luncheon date, including weekend days, are non-refundable.
