Perere Oceans

I visited *Perere Oceans Mall* on *25 July 2026* to celebrate my birthday. I traveled all the way from Johannesburg because I’ve been there in 2023 for my birthday. It was an amazing experience and customer service I received that’s why I decided to bring my sisters for this year’s birthday celebration. First, the positives: The ambience, setup, cleanliness, and food were excellent and truly deserving of 5 stars. The staff member at the entrance was also very welcoming and professional. However, my experience was negatively impacted by the service from one waitress, *Mpume*. When I asked for assistance with a takeaway order, I overheard her speaking in isiZulu to a colleague, referring to our table as "annoying" and saying we would be a bother. She assumed we would not understand because we are from Johannesburg. I do understand isiZulu. You could tell from the beginning that she had undermined us thinking we can’t afford and choosing to refuse to simple requests of closing the door or moving us to a warmer spot. I felt very undermined and disrespected, especially as it was my birthday and a special occasion. I raised my concern with the staff at the entrance who handled it professionally and called management. During this, Mpume became emotional and cited a personal bereavement. While I am sorry for her loss, I believe personal issues should not affect customer service, and it felt like her reaction was intended to make me feel guilty for speaking up. My entire evening was ruined I don’t wish to be assisted by her ever. I’m sharing this feedback because I do want to come back. Perere Oceans Mall has so much potential. I just ask that this be used for staff training on professionalism and customer respect. Thank you to management and the other staff who assisted.
