Salsify @ the Roundhouse

We had a very special and personal experience at Salsify. From the moment we arrived, it felt different. Our hands were gently cleansed on arrival, after which we were welcomed in a separate reception room with a drink and the first bite of the evening. It immediately created a sense of occasion. The location itself is absolutely stunning and easily deserves five stars. The setting, the building and the overall atmosphere make it a memorable place to dine. The tasting menu was creative and surprising, although for my personal taste there was quite a lot of fish and seafood. One dish in particular, the octopus, was really not for me at all. I strongly disliked both the flavour and the overall experience of that course. On the other hand, the lamb was excellent, and I also really enjoyed the dish based around pap. The wine pairing was very good. The wines were carefully chosen and matched the dishes extremely well. Considering the quality of the food, service and overall experience, I thought the price was fair. Compared with restaurants I know in the Netherlands and Spain, I would place the experience around the level of a one Michelin-star restaurant. Overall, I would rate the evening an 8 out of 10. I would definitely return, although next time I would personally prefer a menu with a little less fish and seafood.
