    We had a very disappointing experience at 1702 Heritage Restaurant. When making our reservation, we clearly requested accessible seating due to an elderly member in our group. We were assured this would be arranged, but on arrival, our table had been given away. We were first seated near the kitchen at an uncomfortable table that required walking uphill, and later moved again to a table reserved for other guests—showing poor planning and organisation. During the meal, a spider landed on one of our guests, causing distress. The situation was handled very poorly. The waiter had to prompt the manager on how to respond, and even then, the manager’s only comment was, “Oh, I heard you have a phobia,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. While some of the food was good, there were major issues. The lamb shank was still frozen and had to be sent back. It was replaced with a steak that was extremely undercooked and inedible. A second steak was prepared, but by then everyone else had finished eating, and the guest affected did not get to enjoy their meal. Most disappointing was that the manager never came to apologise or check on us at any point. As people with service industry experience, we know how much a simple apology can improve a situation. The only highlight was our waiter, who was excellent—professional, proactive, and doing her best to manage issues that should have been handled by management. Unfortunately, we left feeling frustrated and unheard.

    Lovely new addition to Meerendal wine farm. Date night Wednesday is so worth the money. Really lovely food and friendly service.

    Table was not ready for 1130 booking. Hostess was confused who's table was who's. Kept on asking if we could borrow them chairs, after we told them they could have the extra table and chairs. Great setting, and service from waitrons made up for the above.
