    Everything about 1947 on Vilakazi Street exceeded my expectations. The food was absolutely delicious — full of flavour, beautifully prepared, and truly enjoyable. The drinks were equally lovely, refreshing and perfectly made. The restaurant itself is stunning — beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s such a beautiful place to sit and relax. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm and attentive, and the service was impressively quick and efficient. We never waited too long for anything, yet everything felt relaxed and unrushed. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was just perfect. I cannot recommend this place enough — great food, great drinks, beautiful environment, wonderful service. Will definitely be coming back

    The guy who was helpin us was good on us yes,But their service was very very bad,U order a drink nd u wait forever until Jesus comes,I no longer talk about their food👎🏻

    Always an experience dining at 1947! I bring all my international colleagues here and they're always impressed by the quality and variety of options to choose from. The staff is warm and welcoming, making the experience even more homely, showing the true essence of our beautiful rainbow nation South Africa. Words just aren't enough - just make your booking and experience it for yourself!

    Greetings, the ambience and service is always great. However the Lamb Curry was watery and under seasoned. The chips that accompany the grills and burgers are those frozen chips which are rubbery and terrible to serve at 5* restaurant. The basting on the Ribs is too sweet, less is more. 1947 should invest in a deep fryer for chips.
