Why Amber?

Amber is our favourite colour. Looking at it’s heritage, Amber was named in the 14th Century, and we too intend to become timeless. Amber is an optimistic hue. It’s the antithesis of sadness. When in the presence of Amber, we can’t help but feel joyful. Amber believes that we accomplish more when we choose to be bold. If you’re reluctant to try new things, find inspiration in Amber.

It is said that the more Amber you have in your life, the higher your energy is presumed to be.

We see it’s beauty in so many things that we appreciate. The countless shades of Amber when the sun rises and again when it sets. The many shades of autumn leaves that fall to mark the end of a beautiful summer.

The flames of our grill, cooking a perfectly medium rare steak. The ice cold beer filling your glass as we pull on the lever of our draught machine. The unseen solution of barley, water and yeast encapsulated between toasted American white oak, maturing into a fine whisky that one day, many years from now, will be enjoyed and appreciated amongst friends.

Situated in iconic Bree Street, we already feel at home. We are excited to share the warmth that is Amber with you.

We did not want to limit ourselves to only one kind of cuisine so instead we opted to create a seasonal menu with influences from all around the world.

    First time coming to Amber ,The food was ok! The traditional beef stew was present beautifully however, the flavour in the food is not up to standard. The prawn cocktail was ok too! The waiter has no basic understanding of filling glasses, she was filling the glass to full with sparkling wine, not allowing it to breathe. She also did inform us that when bring the bill that the 10service charge is included, we added on top of the R2.2k bill we had. We did not make it an issue and left the place. Management should focus train Ing staff to be more attentive to service starters and delivery to avoid more criticism on service. Other customers are not only there for a good time, we rate places and provide recommendations to a large audience.

    Lovely food and excellent cocktails,only downside our waitress was not very attentive and got a few orders wrong even after writing it down ,otherwise experience was great
