Apprentice Restaurant, situated in George, Western Cape, is the natural progression from the François Ferreira Academy. Our restaurant serves its customers delicious meals in an exquisite formal setting, where customers will get a feel of a genuine fine-dining experience. Our aspiring chefs in training at our state-of-the-art Academy, need a soft landing in the industry where they will prepare to go into the world and share a kitchen with another chef. At Apprentice, the chefs in training will be working as part of a professional team, adding their talent to the mix, and at the same time learning from the masters in the kitchen.

    We had a few meals at The Apprentice. We always found the food was of exceptional quality and taste. However, on our last visit on Sunday, 12 April 2026, we noticed a slip in the quality and standard of the food. As this was the first time we noticed a slight difference in the standard and quality of the food we also know that we should not measure all our previous experiences against our last meal. We shall definitely come again and trust that the food quality will be back to what we are accustomed to from The Apprentice.

    We were hosted by The Apprentice at the Francois Ferreira Academy for our monthly Skål International Garden Route networking and expo event. It was a huge success. Thank you to Magda, Chef Sherilyn and Jorine for their excellent teamwork and enormous effort for making this day run seamless and with ease. The yellow tail and lamb were the winners of the day! Thank you for the freshly baked scones and muffins from your pastry students - it was the perfect sweet treat with an early morning coffee! May the lemon tree planted by our Skål Garden Route Committee stand as a living reminder of our shared commitment to growth, friendship, and the lasting impact we create when we nurture something together.     Very disappointing valentines experience - all the courses prepared well in advance of the booking/sitting. To receive a luke warm fillet with cold fondant patatoes not acceptable in any shape or form . Very disappointing to say the least...
