atrás is located inside an excavated atrium at BlackBrick’s new flagship hotel. The space is flooded with natural light that streams through the structure of the building which has been intentionally exposed resulting in a dramatic scene for dining.
our mission is to showcase the exceptional ingredients grown by environmentally conscious producers in and around Cape Town. We partner with local farmers who are deeply committed to sustainable agriculture, a commitment that is reflected in every dish we serve. Our approach is simple: celebrate the best seasonal ingredients, prepared with care and respect.

drinks are served from the courtyard at Max’s Mezcal Bar with an extensive list of cocktails and a traditional Mezcal tasting. Our wine list is headlined by Minimalist wines , our neighboring urban winery . You are welcome to join us at our rooftop, arriba, for a sunset drink before your dinner experience downstairs .

    If you offer dining on the roof, then you need to have a plan for service. Bringing the food on a trolley is fine. You need to cover the hot items to retain the heat. You would however be better served by installing a Dumbwaiter to move food up and down. You need screens upstairs to seal off the living spaces including the pool when it is in use. The views are great. Hurry up with the decor roll out

    Good food but price for quality and quantity did not match. R160 for Greek salad? Smoke flavoured cocktails could also have been done without. Warn about egg whites as well please - I’m allergic.

    From start to finish, the service, food, and overall experience were outstanding. A definite 12/10. We can’t wait to come back when we’re next in Cape Town and will be recommending this place without hesitation.

    This venue is located in the reception area of the hotel. It is not the the upstairs venue as shown. It's like eating in a mall with no outside views just reception and the lounge area all open plan. Food great and good wine list. House Chenin is super.
