In the heart of Simons Town, you’ll find Bertha’s Restaurant on the waters edge, fronting the old Town Pier. Boasting magnificent views across False Bay, the Naval Harbour and the Yacht Marina...

Bustling by day you can enjoy a long, lazy lunch; cocktails at sunset out on the terrace or be swept away by
the sheer romance of the restaurant at night. Relaxed, warm and informal with a cosmopolitan appeal,
it is a favourite place for visitors to pass a few leisurely hours. The terrace is perfectly positioned
for a memorable experience.

Bertha’s extensive menu features South African fare, fresh seafood and an impressive selection of wines.
Emphasis is on flavour and presentation, and you are never left disappointed.

Our sirloin steaks were very tasty, but it seemed that the flame or grid on which is was cooked wasn't hot enough. For it to be rare, we were expecting it to be seared on the outside and red on the inside, but it was somewhere in between. However, that won't put us off coming again.

There were 8 of us who had lunch at Bertha’s yesterday. The service was excellent and our waitress most pleasant with a good sense of humour. The dishes were calamari grilled and fried with chips, hake and chips and chicken schnitzel with chips with a choice of sauce. The plates all arrived at the same time and our meals were delicious. Good value for money. Sitting on the veranda on a glorious day, we had a great view of the yachts and the navy vessels in the bay, with the mountains forming a wonderful backdrop. Thank you so much and we will see you again soon.

My reserved table, which you reminded me about many times did not appear on their list of reserved tables. Service, though cheerful, was rather disorganized

The grilled calamari were not cooked well enough as if they had been defrosted, only charred on one side and soggy on the other side, the tentacles not cooked at all - smelt fishy, old and slightly off. The pina colada was tasteless and like drinking a glass of milk. The prawns were tasteless, same with the overcooked rice and the oily shriveled chips - could do with an oil change in the deep fryer. Very disappointing - providing for tourists with no care and attention to the food. Cheap and nasty!
