Presenting restaurant classics in the most thoughtful way, Blanko offers an intimate dining experience in the heritage building of The Alphen – a national monument and lauded example of Cape Dutch architecture.     We want there twice for dinner. Both times the food was excellent. Also the staff was very friendly and professional. The location itself is beautiful. We would definitely go back.

    There is a lot to say about the ambience of Blanko, but that’s where the positives stop… the last time I was there a few months ago the service was very slow, frustrating, but tolerable. The food was quite good. This time, april 5th, the service was virtually nonexistent. If we had not invited an important guest, we would’ve left after the first HOUR of waiting. My husband and I were promptly served glass of white wine as we ordered. Our guest ordered a glass of red and waited for over half an hour. We were in a charming, smaller room with a number of other tables and a couple of different waiters. Some were served in a normal amount of time and some, not. We were definitely took the trophy for waiting, as it took an hour and 35 minutes for us to get an appetizer . We did not receive our main course for another 45 minutes. We had booked for 630 in order to have an early dinner as our guest wanted to get home fairly early. We left at 10:15 PM and did not have dessert. Also sadly, when the food did arrive, it was extremely disappointing. The crispy zucchini blossoms were soggy. My crispy grilled fish was undercooked and tasteless. It too, was not crispy. Until Management changes from top to bottom, I would strongly advise to avoid Blanco at all cost. Despite the fact that we had made numerous complaints to the young woman, who was acting as manager, her repeated apologies, met with no improvement in service. Clearly, she had no clout with the kitchen and the kitchen did not care. Virtually no management here our dinner was Beyond frustrating and very overpriced for what it was . I did mention to the manager that we should be compensated in someway for the ridiculous wait time, but that too did not happen. Blanko is off our list and should not be on yours.!

    Beautiful setting with super friendly staff. The food was amazing, we will definitely come back.
