    We have been to Boschendal many times when visiting this beautiful are of Franschhoek. The location, service and wines are why we keep returning.

    We did enjoy our wine tasting overall, but we weren’t completely satisfied. The four wines were more or less placed in front of us, and while the server did give a short explanation, it was very quick, and we had a hard time understanding her. We didn’t want to ask repeatedly, so we ended up feeling a bit lost. We had ordered the cheese pairing as well, but unfortunately ate the wrong cheeses with the wrong wines. That was certainly our own mistake, but if someone had checked in on us again to see if everything was okay, we would have had the chance to ask for guidance. We also found the seating a bit uncomfortable — simple chairs without cushions, which made it less inviting to linger and enjoy the experience. Additionally, the restrooms felt quite run-down compared to the beauty and elegance of the estate, which was surprising. Overall, we felt a bit like we were being processed on a conveyor belt, which is a real shame because the property itself is absolutely stunning. We just expected a bit more care and hospitality, especially compared to other wine estates we have visited.

    Visiting Boschendal as an experience, on our trip to South Africa from Scotland was superb. The wine tasting was great value for enjoyable wines. Sitting sharing the most delicious picnic on the lawn, while live music played was relaxing, romantic and highly recommended. I only wish I could do it all again.

    Felt like a robot tasting. Ambience could be also easily improved by a bit more kindness.
