Our Werf picnic baskets include food made from our natural farm produce including freshly baked bread, green salads from our Werf Food Garden, free-range, handmade charcuterie cuts from the Boschendal Butchery, homemade preserves and one celebrated desserts.

Sadly the picnics have gone down hill . Loud inappropriate music for such a wonderful farm. The food was below the usual and very expensive . I have been coming here for the last 32 years and unfortunately it has lost its charm . It has become commercial like Spier which maybe more financially viable but no longer a pleasurable experience.

Beautiful farm. Great picnic ambiance with live music. Lots of space for kids to to around. Maybe could provide more games for kids or toys like ball, etc. picnic baskets a bit expensive vs value. Could be reworked to make more financial sense perhaps.

We've done quite a few picnics along the years, and I must say that this one is in the Top 3. I was impressed by the organisation. You come to the tented area, they give you the blanket and backrest and let you chose your spot. Once settled down, they come place your drink order, and bring you your picnic baskets. We ordered a standard one and a vegetarian one. everything was explained and all the food restrictions were taken into account. Well done! The food variety was large, and the quantity as well. Very good quality products. We sat in front of the carousel to enjoy the band. It was not really my style of music (I prefer acoustic), but it was enjoyable. Top notch service. The price is a bit expensive, but you pay for the quality. To be done on a special occasion. The low part was the portable toilets. I found it a bit inappropriate for such a high standard place.

Werf Farm Picnics @ Boschendal responded on Mon 23 Feb 26:
Dear Ms Orban, Thank you sincerely for your wonderful feedback and for including us in your picnic experiences over the years. To be ranked in your Top 3 is truly rewarding, and we are delighted that you enjoyed the organisation, food variety, quality, and service. It is especially pleasing to know that our team took care to explain the baskets and accommodate dietary requirements thoughtfully. We also appreciate your honest comment regarding the portable toilet facilities. As part of our planned winter maintenance and ongoing improvements across Boschendal Wine Estate, we will be implementing several upgrades on the property — including the introduction of proper ablution blocks in the picnic area. Your feedback reinforces the importance of this enhancement, and we are grateful that you took the time to share it. Guest insights such as yours help us refine and elevate the experience for all who visit, and we truly value that contribution. We hope to welcome you back for another special occasion soon. Warm regards, Boschendal Wine Estate Management Team
