1 November 1999 saw two impeccably well-aged and obviously grain fed “boys” Laz and Derryck, open the doors at Butcher Boys, Florida Road. Flash forward almost two decades and were still known for a great dining experience that delivers the finest beef on offer.
Our top class service is surpassed only by our unforgettable food, and our patrons can now experience this in two unique locations since Butcher Boys Umhlanga became the newest addition in March 2017.

Our beef is either wet or dry aged, depending on the cut, please feel free to visit our in store butchery for your special requests. Its then basted with our famous basting sauce before being grilled to absolute Perfection. Over 17 years of passion and great flavours have shaped our adventurous menu that offers nothing but variety and total satisfaction. Our extensive selection of vintage wines, stored in our refrigerated wine cellar at an optimum temperature of 16-17 degrees, will enhance every meal and turn it into a special occasion.

    I was disappointed to visit BB Florida Rd for my birthday as the experience was unfortunate given it is always a choice for a good wholesome dine out. We had a pot brush bristle in our Greek salad (a salad we ordered in place of another item there was no stock of), then 3 x side portions were wrong and food was delayed slightly by having to send back. A loose nail that fell from either the chair my 3 year old daughter was on or it came loose and she picked it up and put it on the chair poked her and she got hurt- why are there nails laying around or defective seating especially in a newly refurb space? The food was excellent otherwise, as always, and the quality superb... This is why it's most surprising of how the management who were made aware of the incidents chose not to act on it because it's unnacceptable. I spent hard earned money to enjoy an eatery like this and they proceeded to mis-charge me and then correct it to a higher amount. Appalling. After waiting slightly for the waitress to correct as we were charged for the item out of stock on starters and I acknowledged no salad was charged for as I thought since we had a thin, long and sharp metal piece in between our salad we were comped for it, the waitress returned with a corrected bill charging for the salad instead which was higher in price than the previous. A joke. I eventually just paid the bill and left as it was a tedious and disappointing experience.

    I celebrated my birthday at Butcher Boys. Everyone remarked how absolutely delicious the food was and on the excellent service. Morningside is very fortunate to have a restaurant like this in the area. The ambiance was so good that we were there for three and a half hours.

    Quite possibly the best steak we have ever had! Onion rings and garlic bread were amazing too. Definitely worth a visit.
