The CHAPTER 5 Restaurant specializes in Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Buffets. Located on the Ground Floor of Coastlands SKYE Hotel, the restaurant offers a choice of both Buffet and a la Carte options.

Chapter 5 is not a Halaal certified restaurant. However, we are certain that it would give you a sense of comfort in knowing that all meals are prepared free of alcoholic ingredients and the meat sourced to prepare all dishes is Halaal certified. Please speak to our Executive Chef on duty / Restaurant Manager should you require additional information, we will be glad to assist. Please note Halaal certified meals can be made available on request.

    We chose your venue for my partner’s birthday, expecting the premium standards of the Coastlands brand. Instead, the evening was ruined by poor management and a total failure to deliver on pre-paid arrangements. As frequent diners at Coastal branches in Durban, we are shocked by this experience. Upon arrival, there was no greeting or seating assistance; we stood ignored for minutes. Once seated, no waitron attended to us. We had to flag down staff for basic drink orders, which took ages. Our second round of drinks never arrived at all, even after dessert. The worst failure was the birthday cake. We pre-paid and confirmed a personalized cake in advance, yet it was never brought out. This negligence completely ruined the birthday celebration. While the food tasted good, the buffet logistics were terrible. Bain-maries were empty and slow to refill. The mussel pot had only sauce, no mussels, and the sushi and prawn stations had long wait times. The setup looked much smaller than your advertised photos. The duty manager merely cited a staff shortage, but it was clear that a la carte tables were prioritized while buffet guests were entirely neglected. I request that management reviews the camera footage from table Nikita Pillay to verify this terrible service.

Please accept our sincere apologies that your partner's birthday celebration did not meet the standards that you have come to expect from the Coastlands brand.     The prepared food was a high standard. However the offering was limited on starters and vegetable options. Missed a cheese section, and nuts and pastry. Should also offer fresh fruit juice on tap and a litre bottle water fo the table. Additionally ice cream wasn’t offered which was surprising, especially after a heavy meal. It was also strange that a function of 50 guests suddenly joined the restaurant buffet. It suddenly got busy and the queue got long. This was a bit disappointing. There was also no music, at times it felt like a dining hall and sound echoed. However overall very nice experience lovely food and service staff were excellent. May consider a different option based on the low variety of items next time, although what was offered was enjoyed.

    My experience rat the restaurant require improvement, service levels were not up to standard as there appeared to be a shortage of waitstaff. This resulted in slow service of unclear tables .Cleanliness and attententivess in this area can enhance the guests experience. The ambience lacked energy and atmosphere making it feel somewhat flat and uninspiring. A more vibrant setting would greatly improve the overall dining experience. The menu could benefit from improvements. Overall with better staffing ,improved attention to detail and enhancements to both ambience and menu quality the hotel could offer a much more enjoyable experience.
