Mr Chau & his gargantuan gaggle of foodie friends just LOVE FOOD.
And after extensive travel & existential eating around Asia, we have brought the mostest & the bestest & the deepest flavours back home to you.

Why is Mr Chau called Chunky Chau? Because Mr Chau is not 'fat'.

‘Chunky’, on the other hand, can be used to refer to someone who is short and muscular. Being short and broad shouldered, he looks heavy. Unlike ‘fat’, ‘chunky’ does not have a negative connotation. In fact, according to some books on usage, native speakers sometimes use the word to indicate affection.

We do not eat beef and we were given beef spring rolls when we ordered the mushroom spring rolls. We only found out after eating the 1st spring roll. The waiter said it was the kitchens fault as he took the correct order. For this reason we won't be coming back.

First time at Chunky Chau and certainly will not be my last. Everything exceeded my expectations. The environment of the restaurant is so incredible and the service from all of the staff was so hands on. Food is 1000 out of ten, each dish topped the last! Highly recommend for date nights and special occasions.

As the restaurant had only 2 tables occupied it lacked any coziness. The Vietnamese spring roles were good as was the Thai curry. However the meat of the beef ribs were dry.- the sauce delicious. I requested a pork dish and was told that you would no longer be serving pork as you were going halaal! Very odd for a Chinese/oriental restaurant as so many dishes use pork. That is a huge disappointment and probably won’t return. Our waitress was excellent.

The first time we went to Chunky Chau it was fantastic. So we opted to return yesterday for their bottomless buns and sushi. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that yesterday was extraordinary circumstances (maybe short staffed - but who knows). The service was appalling. It took an hour and a half before we got any food, which we finished off in 5 minutes (being that it was small bites). We had to repeatedly ask for drinks orders to be fulfilled. Plates never got cleared. In the end we were there for 3 hours and we managed to only get two rounds of bites. We were waiting for more, but the kids were hangry (the adults too) and opted to just cut our losses and leave. It's such a pity because the food is great, but unfortunately we won't be returning. There were much better ways we could have spent our day.
