    As part of a group of between 12 and 6, I dine at City Grill every year at least twice during a two week stay. The food is always good. However, yesterday one of the group ordered a plain steak with no basting. It was served with a flavoured baste. The steak was returned with the customer saying that he did not want a replacement. When the bill came the returned steak was listed. We spoke to the waiter who said that if we didn’t pay for the steak it would come out of his wages. We called the front of house lady. She said that she had spoken to our table throughout the evening and there were no complaints. This was a lie, no one of our group were spoken to by her. However, the real point of our complaint was that the waiter would have to pay for the steak out of his own pocket. We’re were joined by another lady apparently another manager. They did nothing to address our complaint and walked away. Rather than the waiter losing his wages we paid the bill in full. A lovely meal spoilt by poor amateurish customer service. We will not be returning.

    This was a very average meal, served in average surroundings by inexperienced staff. It is an example of a quasi-fast-food restaurant serving slightly more up-market food. Why would you serve a subtle smoked springbok carpaccio and drench it in olive oil, balsamic, and cheese so the main dish cannot shine or even attempt to break through? Avoid
