Clay Cafe Paarl at Groot Parys

Once again, my clay painting experience at Clay Cafe Paarl, was as enjoyable as every previous visit. The food is well prepared and plated invitingly. All drinks on offer are always well prepared and served. The waitrons are always pleasant and helpful. The ambiance is conducive to unleashing your creativity, however high or low those inherent skill sets may be. A place always worth returning to!

The setup was lovely and everything was prepared ahead of time, which we appreciated. However, the service during our visit was unfortunately not up to standard. While the students were painting, no staff member checked in to see if we needed anything. Afterwards, when we moved outside for the children to play, I had already arranged for the food and drinks included in the package. The teachers’ meals were ordered separately. After sitting for 30 minutes, I had to go inside to ask for the drinks and enquire about the pizzas. I was told they were unsure whether the kitchen had even started preparing them. The drinks arrived only after 15 minutes, and the pizzas followed about 30 minutes later. Once the students received their food, I asked about the teachers’ pizzas, only to find that the order had been done incorrectly. We waited another 20 minutes before receiving ours. Overall, the long delays and lack of communication made the experience quite disappointing. Unfortunately, I don’t think Clay Café would be suitable for future school outings.
