In 1968 the property was acquired by Historical Homes to be restored - later leased as a restaurant. During 2016 the Rupert family initiated a full restoration, today De Volkskombuis operates once again as a restaurant serving patrons within Stellenbosch.

    My husband and I had a fantastic experience at De Volkskombuis. The food portions were generous, the service was warm and attentive, and the ambience inside this charming old Dutch building was exceptional. Everything was impeccably clean and full of character. A truly five-star experience—we’ll definitely be back!
