In 1968 the property was acquired by Historical Homes to be restored - later leased as a restaurant. During 2016 the Rupert family initiated a full restoration, today De Volkskombuis operates once again as a restaurant serving patrons within Stellenbosch.

    Staff welcomed us (with a full set of luggage) half an hour before our reserved time. Luggage could be stored in the office. Service very well, the food was very nice and the ambience is great. All and all we had a wonderful evening at De Volkskombuis
