In 1968 the property was acquired by Historical Homes to be restored - later leased as a restaurant. During 2016 the Rupert family initiated a full restoration, today De Volkskombuis operates once again as a restaurant serving patrons within Stellenbosch.

    I really enjoy the consistency of Volkskombuis. its aways warm and cosy. the Service is always good and friendly. and the food is consistently good. have would have given 3 out of 4 stars for the food only because the one dessert was a bit disappointing - but the manager agreed about, and offered an alternative, is i was satisfied! Its not a deal breaker for me, and i will definitely go again.

    brilliant food , amazing ambience and great service - proper parking and great accoustics making chats and communication so easy !! One of our favourite and regular restaurants!! Love it
