In 1968 the property was acquired by Historical Homes to be restored - later leased as a restaurant. During 2016 the Rupert family initiated a full restoration, today De Volkskombuis operates once again as a restaurant serving patrons within Stellenbosch.

    We had a great time. Quite a few people complained about the tough rack of lamb. The lamb starter was delicious.

    Caroline was fantastic, friendly and very accommodating, we will recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Excellent atmosphere and mood around the restaurant and the prawn pasta is great👌🏽
