Gaaitjie is a beach side restaurant in the beautiful village of Paternoster. Explore the Paternoster beach and nestled amongst the rocks, you will find a simple white-washed fisherman’s cottage. Gaaitjie creates a warm welcome with feelings of comfort and tradition. This unique atmosphere has inspired an eclectic menu featuring local produce, fused with contemporary influences. Our food is unpretentious and made with love, using sustainable fresh ingredients as far as possible. The décor is simple yet comfortable and our unique location and views remain unbeatable. We boast an excellent wine list, sourced from the West Coast and immediate surrounds. We look forward to meeting Gaaitjie’s current and future friends, the final and most important ingredient to the perfect meal.

    Such a warm friendly place. Food was excellent and we had such wonderful chats with the owner . The monk fish was particularly delicious !

    Our hostess was awesome and the service we recived from our waitress was excellent. The shef and kitchen staff must also be complemented for putting out such an excellent product for the guests to enjoy. Overall a five star experience. Thanks Gaatjie will be back soon.

    Been to Paternoster many times , visiting most of the restaurants and are also privileged to travel to Europe regularly. The tuna and monkfish yesterday evening were world class combined with the 5 star service. Looking forward to our next visit to Gaaitjie.

    Good day Herman. Thank you for reviewing Gaaitjie and we are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us. However, I'm just curious about the 1/5 rating for the setting/location. We generally get very good feedback for that because we are one of the few restaurants being almost right on the beach and that has this beautiful view of the ocean and the bay of Paternoster. Please let us know what was disappointing about the location of the restaurant. Looking forward to your reply.

    Think there is a glitch on the review system. The setting and location is above a five rating . Sorry about that ,but I will never give a one for a brilliant world class location. Regards
