Nestled at the foot of our majestic mountains, in the leafy suburb of Newlands, Cape Town, Foresters Arms Restaurant and Pub (fondly referred to by the locals as Forries), is one of the oldest pubs in South Africa and provides the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Its welcoming ambiance provides guests with the opportunity to sit down, relax and enjoy a fine draught beer accompanied by a delicious meal selected from our varied gastro-pub menu.

    The carvery looked bland. Mixed veg … ! Not that tempting. Spinach was good. Starter Crumbed mushrooms , disappointing more crumb than mushroom. Garlic dip was tasty. I had steak & stout pie. Plenty of meat but not tender. Needed carrots & onion for flavor. No colour or garnish either. Chicken pie very average too. Decided not to have a dessert. Service was excellent & couldn’t fault it. Great play area outside for kids to play.

    My nachos were cold and the cheese wasn't melted. The pepper sauce was split. Bathrooms need work. No soap and broken hand dryer, light bulbs not working and flickering. Issues with our bill and paying. Food isn't cheap, but also not of great quality. Management did apologise and deducted items from our bill, but even then we had to to send the bill back twice for rectification.
