Nestled at the foot of our majestic mountains, in the leafy suburb of Newlands, Cape Town, Foresters Arms Restaurant and Pub (fondly referred to by the locals as Forries), is one of the oldest pubs in South Africa and provides the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

    We were a party of 10 on very little time with a show to go to! We warned the waiter. He said it was possible. And he made it happen! All meals were amazing. Everything was as ordered. Drinks were brought out swiftly. The one small delay was getting the bill. But we got out in time and made it to our show! Really impressive service, food and garden setting

    Choice limited on Sunday Lunch and couldn’t have just one meat the beef as we asked for had to have half beef and gammon which was dry and salty. Poor choice of veg on the day and gravy very peppery overall underwhelming .

    Good day, We are regulars and have always enjoyed the outdoor space, food, and service. The recent menu changes, including the smaller portions, were noticeable, and we were sorry to see the fried calamari removed. We truly enjoyed the previous menu and portion sizes and hope some of those dishes might return.

    It’s clear Forries is struggling with staff and training staff. Dineplan bookings are not executed as booked! Forries should strive to retain staff and train all involved. Example: we ordered 2 Affogato‘s, which you even had on your menu, but this was not known by the staff who served us. Only 1 waiter knew what we were talking about. It took 20 minutes before they managed to get our order „together“!
