Ganesh is brought to you from the team behind Bodega Ramen. As Obs locals themselves, they have taken over the institution that is Cafe Ganesh in Observatory now Ganesh. It remains a space synonymous with crayfish samoosas, late-night conversations, live music, sharing of quarts and a meeting space for friends, locals, artists, students and activists. The building has been given a facelift and the restaurant at the back has been turned into a small Thai Street Food restaurant. Embracing Thai Kitsch and the street food flavours and experience the three owners (Ryan, Bryn and Jade) had while travelling Thailand together.

Ganesh host's weekly music events on Thursday at 7pm in the bar area and on Sunday from 4pm. Thursdays focus on Vinyl Selectors and Jazz - please check their Instagram for what's on. On Sunday's the focus is on ambient and experimental music and two Thai Curries are served. No bookings taken.

    My meal had a lot of sauce and not that much substance. The fried chicken might of worked if pieces had been breast meat and cut smaller- hard to eat without cutting it and hard to cut in a bowl full of sauce. I will be more thoughtful in my choice next time...my friend's prawn and rice dish was yummy. Ambience was good but sitting near the open kitchen area meant my clothes smelt of grease this morning. My suggestion would be to keep the menu small but have one or two fail safe standard dishes...there used to be fabulous lamb chops at Ganesh! Service was excellent and enjoyed being there, thanks!

    10/10 experience! We celebrated my best friend’s birthday here, and Olorato provided exceptional service from start to finish. We shared a variety of dishes, and every single one was amazing. Compliments to the chef; there wasn’t a single thing we could fault. Highly recommend ×10000. We’ll definitely be back!

    Food and ambience were excellent. Service was good. Dessert was significantly overpriced. Otherwise, a lovely dinner out.
