Gerakaris Family Wines was founded in 2009 by Kath Gerakaris. Our boutique winery in the heart of Craighall Park, Jozi, produces wines from grapes sourced from a single farm in the Swartland, Western Cape. Five wines are made by winemaker Kath Gerakaris. Two Chenin blancs and three Syrahs.

Wine tastings are R150 person. We also serve a cheese board designed to match our wines, show casing four South African cheese producers, and bowls of Cape Olives. We have a small garden and we like it this way because we can chat to everyone about what we do… however it does mean weekends get busy and you need to make a booking ahead of time.

Our wine tastings take from half an hour to an hour and a half depending on the size of your group. We therefore reserve your table for a maximum of 2 hours.

    We had a wonderful experience at Gerakaris. We love wine tastings and wine farms and do have knowledge about wine. Being so far from the Cape, it was nice to find a lovely experience in joburg. Wine tasting and cheeseboard was delicious. Michelle served us, she did well for her first day serving after training, with a bit more experience she will learn more about the wines. More information about the wines would have been nice for us, as we enjoy hearing about the background of each wine. We also bought 6 wines to enjoy later with friends. We decided on getting 6 wines after we paid, so missed out on our free tasting… but that was our fault. Will recommend Gerakaris to friends. Beautiful end relaxed garden setting. Zelda and Terence

    An absolutely beautiful setting! Our hostess was warm and friendly. Wines were lovely and really enjoyed the pairing with the cheeses.

    The experience was lovely. However, because the venue was full, we had to wait to long for each tasting. We paid for 5 tastings and as the one wine was sold out, we lost the benefit of 5 tastings..

    We did a wine tasting as a birthday outing with the girls. We absolutely all had the most amazing time. The wine was sublime ( think the elli ) was our favorite favorite. The cheese boards are an essential and delicious. Loved sitting outside ( a little bit of stellenbosch in jhb.) . Thank you all for a stunning experience.
