Gerakaris Family Wines was founded in 2009 by Kath Gerakaris. Our boutique winery in the heart of Craighall Park, Jozi, produces wines from grapes sourced from a single farm in the Swartland, Western Cape. Five wines are made by winemaker Kath Gerakaris. Two Chenin blancs and three Syrahs.

Wine tastings are R150 person. We also serve a cheese board designed to match our wines, show casing four South African cheese producers, and bowls of Cape Olives. We have a small garden and we like it this way because we can chat to everyone about what we do… however it does mean weekends get busy and you need to make a booking ahead of time.

Our wine tastings take from half an hour to an hour and a half depending on the size of your group. We therefore reserve your table for a maximum of 2 hours.

    ​A World-Class Gem in Johannesburg! ​As an international traveler who has enjoyed wines around the world, I can say without hesitation that Gerakaris Family Wines is truly something special. ​The wines are fantastic, with their 'Tom' Syrah being a standout and their Chenin Blancs simply delicious. But it's the entire experience that makes me return time after time. The beautiful garden setting, the well-thought-out wine tasting, and the excellent cheese platters all contribute. ​Crucially, the warmth and attention to detail of the staff are genuinely the cherry on the cake. It's a truly remarkable place and I'll be coming back for many years.

    I didn't not know that we have our own winery in our backyard. This is something everyone should try. It was an amazing experience. the Staff is friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the wine as well as the pairing. Definitely will be doing it again soon.
