Located on the biodynamic Rozendal Farm and Vinagrier in Stellenbosch, Good to Gather is a convivial, intimate restaurant owned by husband-and-wife duo Luke Grant and Jess Shepherd. In summer, sit outside in the gorgeous courtyard under the oak trees, in colder months the dining takes place in the Vinegar Tasting Room warmed by a wood burning stove, with views of the cellar filled with the farms botanical infused red wine vinegars. The three course farm to table menu changes weekly, and incorporates seasonal ingredients locally sourced from small-scale farmers.

    As always, Jess's food is absolutely delectably and unpretentiously delicious. The tomato galette blew me away and the succulent beef tenderloin in a short rib jus may be the best beef I have ever tasted. Every side dish bursts with flavour. I can never have enough of the focacia and the pana cotta is to die for and a perfect fresh ending to a beautiful meal. Luke calmly and unobtrusively makes sure everyone is looked after and is always so accommodating. In the intense summer Stellenbosch heat, I am awed at how everyone and most especially everyone in the kitchen can put out such amazing food. Thank you Jess, Luke and team. We will be back in the winter!

    The lunch felt like a day away in Provence, even with the cicadas. Service was attentive and genuine without being intrusive. The food - WoW! Loved every bite. Favourites: -focaccia with salata(and we don’t like aubergine) -tomato tart -superb fillet that was all yummy umami -panna cotta and lime posset were not to sweet and very refreshing end of a leisurely meal. Best value for money! Even using the restroom was like a little country story on its own - cracking gravel pathway, passing the kitchen banter, through the vegetable garden into the crisp clean shade of the restrooms. A day of understated luxury with heart! This place got me lyrical and I’m no influencer!
