It takes years to build a Legacy. Even Decades. Or sometimes Centuries.

Groot Constantia’s is testimony of how one man’s love for wine established South Africa’s first wine farm in 1685. Our wines are from rich African soil, crafted to perfection. Groot Constantia memories are part of literature and heritage and embodies the timeless endeavour to perfection. Our heritage stands for growth, life and beauty. It is alive and vibrant, like the vineyards we hold dear. It is in our hearts.

To start with: the wines we tasted were excellent. Even better was Bradley, who served our chosen wines and offered interesting and relevant background. He clearly enjoyed engaging with customers and was absolutely brilliant. On the downside the ambience was disappointing and not worthy of a winery of that reputation. The outdoor wine tasting area in the visitor centre was next to - or better part of - a parking lot with cars in and out and to top it off tractors passing next to our table in 10 meters distance every 2-3 minutes. Tables and chairs rather uninviting.

Excellent guide, enjoyable and educational visit. The website was not very easy to navigate for booking and could have provided more information. The online self guided tour was interesting and the Jonkershuis was very good
