It takes years to build a Legacy. Even Decades. Or sometimes Centuries.

Groot Constantia’s is testimony of how one man’s love for wine established South Africa’s first wine farm in 1685. Our wines are from rich African soil, crafted to perfection. Groot Constantia memories are part of literature and heritage and embodies the timeless endeavour to perfection. Our heritage stands for growth, life and beauty. This is my second visit to Groot Constantia. Overall, the tour was nice, the wine tasting was lovely, and we had a nice time. However, things were disorganized, and this is the second time we've had this experience, unfortunately. We booked the Visitor's Route tour for 3:30pm, but when we got there and checked in, we were seated at Simon's Restaurant as if we were dining. We then explained--again--that we were there for the winery tour, and they directed us to a different building. Once we were checked in there, we were told that the tour started at 4pm, and that afterward, we'd have to go down the hill to a different spot for our wine tasting, because the Visitor's Route spot would be closed before our tasting was done. What?! How were we able to book for 3:30, for a tour that actually started at 4pm, and then a wine tasting that started closer to 4:45 and would end later than the place was open for? And all of this occurred at different spots, far apart at the winery. It was very annoying, and again this is the second time the Estate mixed things up for us. That being said, once the tour and tasting got underway, we enjoyed it and had a great time.

Simons restaurant was excellent, both in value and quality. The wine tasting was likewise excellent. The only thing we would wish changed was the line up for the tour being on the same tills as the scrum for buying wine and chocolate. Separation of the two would be better, given the space available. Thank you for having us!
