The old stable, dated 1767, houses the recently restored restaurant, a charming blend of past and present. Features like the original stone floor and wooden mangers blend seamlessly with modern, comfortable furniture while historic photographs and bespoke blue Dutch tiles line the old walls.

Meals are also served outside on the grassed terrace which boasts a spectacular view of the Boland mountains and is surrounded by a neat, colourful garden. Dishes have been designed to complement the Groot Phesantekraal wines with generous flavours and modern flourishes.

    My guests were delighted by my choice of breakfast venue. The chef gladly swopped bacon for a portion of mushrooms - we were even given a choice of mushroom. Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Everything done quietly making conversation around the table easy. Food tasty and very nicely presented. Portions adequate but could have been a bit larger for my requirements. Delivery to the table was well-coordinated and almost too quick. An extra bonus was seeing the wild-life on the drive out.

    Out of stock with most popular white wines, Manager's uncompromising and sarcastic attitude not professional, with food bland resulting in digestive challenges! Not to be repeated in a hurry!

    Always a nice experience - the food was lovely and the wines so cheap and good quality - prices have ticked up since last time - the setting is always so charming outside

    An excellent experience. Outdoor tables in courtyard under the trees between the tasting room & the restaurant. Our waitress was helpful & friendly The menu was more ambitious than I had expected - fine dining style with bigger portions. I loved the Globe Artichoke starter. The fish main was very tasty - it was Angel Fish on the day. The pate starter was huge. The winelist was very reasonably priced. I would return in a heartbeat
