The old stable, dated 1767, houses the recently restored restaurant, a charming blend of past and present. Features like the original stone floor and wooden mangers blend seamlessly with modern, comfortable furniture while historic photographs and bespoke blue Dutch tiles line the old walls.

Meals are also served outside on the grassed terrace which boasts a spectacular view of the Boland mountains and is surrounded by a neat, colourful garden. Dishes have been designed to complement the Groot Phesantekraal wines with generous flavours and modern flourishes.

    Waiter could take time to describe meal and how it is served. Sides are extra, and one expect some basic veggies with your food/ meat. We would have ordered veggies on the 'side' if we only knew how meal would be dished up. Not much presentation of management either.

    It is always nice to go back to Groot Phesantekraal. One of my guests and I both attended the farm school on the farm many years ago and it was a good opportunity to reminisce.
