The old stable, dated 1767, houses the recently restored restaurant, a charming blend of past and present. Features like the original stone floor and wooden mangers blend seamlessly with modern, comfortable furniture while historic photographs and bespoke blue Dutch tiles line the old walls.

Meals are also served outside on the grassed terrace which boasts a spectacular view of the Boland mountains and is surrounded by a neat, colourful garden. Dishes have been designed to complement the Groot Phesantekraal wines with generous flavours and modern flourishes.

    It’s a great pity the staff member who was a large white Afrikaans guy was so rude to us when we tried to find shade parking around the back of the restaurant. Totally unnecessary which spoilt the experience. Manners are obviously a thing of the past !

    we were a table 0f 9. Eight received their meals and we had to wait for 20 minutes for the last meal while the rest of our food turn cold. Mains were disappointing as it does not comprise of a balanced meal.
