Gusto Urban Italian Restaurant is located in Century City, Cape Town – an
Italian inspired restaurant with a wood-fired oven and views over Ratanga Park and
Canal.
Infused with contemporary and urban influences, it has a far more stylish and trendy
feel than your traditional trattoria or pizzeria. Gusto includes to-go and deli offerings,
true Italian style al fresco dining on the piazza, and an extensive wine list with both
local and Italian favourites - curated by the collaboration of a South African
sommelier and Italian chef, ensuring the wine and food complement each other and
remain true to the Urban Italian inspiration of Gusto.

    We had our monthly book club meeting at Gusto on Saturday, 25 July, and what a wonderful experience it was. The nature of our book club is that we need a quieter space where each member can share uninterrupted feedback and reflections on the book. From the moment I made the booking, the team was incredibly accommodating. I phoned to reserve our space, and they immediately recommended an area that would suit our needs. Even though the booking was made over the phone, I received a Dineplan confirmation straight afterwards, which was a great touch and made everything feel organised and effortless. When I arrived on the 25th, the set-up was not in the exact space we had originally requested. However, the team had thoughtfully chosen an area with a beautiful view over the park. I explained that we had specifically requested a quieter space, and the manager greeted me with a warm smile, offered me coffee, and simply said that everything is fixable. True to his word, the set-up was moved to a quieter spot, which still had the lovely park view and turned out to be absolutely perfect. What impressed me even more was how the team seemed to know exactly who we were. Each book club member arrived smiling and mentioned that the front waiters had greeted them and asked, “Book club?” That level of attention made everyone feel welcomed before we had even sat down. Our waiter, Chelsea, was the perfect balance of professional and friendly. She explained the buffet beautifully, gave us enough space to enjoy our meal, share our thoughts, laugh, and simply be ourselves. She understood the rhythm of our gathering and allowed us to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. Five hours later, we left with our cups filled, our hearts happy, and our book club experience beautifully enhanced by the warmth and hospitality of Gusto. Thank you to the entire team for making our monthly gathering so special. We will definitely be back

    Restaurant was packed. Our waiter provided everyone around us complimentary bread but didn’t do so for us. Took an hour for the main meals to come. I asked for my steak to be medium to well done and it came back DRY and charred.

    I was actually there last night. You can look up my reservation. While we got bread yesterday, my steak came back raw when once again I asked for it to be medium to well done. I had to send it back to the kitchen and wait even longer for it to return. So providing a much better experience? Yeah that’s out of the window. But atleast I tried.
