Set in the farm’s original wine cellar, built circa-1870, the Hazendal Wine Lounge is a beautifully refurbished venue for visitors to discover the cellar’s terroir-driven range of wines. From deep-buttoned Harrington sofas at the eye-catching fireplace to the striking copper-clad bar, classic and contemporary touches combine in a single elegant space.

    Walking into the space was a lovely experience the fireplace was burning, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the start. I really appreciated how thoughtful the waiters were; they understood that the beautiful aesthetics would make guests want to take photos and even suggested the best spots for pictures, which was a nice touch. The wine tasting is definitely great value for money and was a highlight of the visit. We were also encouraged to book a table in the restaurant as there was a live band, which added to the overall experience. When it came to the food, unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet expectations. My pasta was average, although it was reasonably priced at R110. My friends ordered the Hazendog, which was disappointing and felt like a waste of money this is something that should definitely be reconsidered on the menu. Overall, while the food wasn’t a standout, the service and wine tasting were excellent a solid 10/10 in that regard.

    It was my daughter's birthday on 3 June 2026. I made a last minute telephonic booking for a 4pm wine tasting. My daugters did the wine tasting and I ordered a cheese platter expecting just a traditional small cheese platter but was pleasantly surprised with the size of the platter and the items. It was scrumptious. The best cheese platter I've ever ordered and it was more than enough for the 3 of us. The waitress was so sweet, humble and professional, in fact all the staff on duty was extremely helpful and pleasant. So sorry but I can't remember her name. :( She explained the wines in detail and was very knowledgeable. After the wine tasting she discovered that it was my daughter's birthday, and quickly arranged a treat for my daughter :). It was a cute little decadent chocolate cake and a glass of her preferred wine of the wine tasting selection. She also assisted with taking pics of us. What a warm, pleasant, joyful experience. Will definitely come back and enjoy the rest of your beautiful venue and happily recommend this venue to my family and friends.
