For the love of food, Hemelhuijs opened its doors in October 2010 . The restaurant is a small oasis in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa and offers an ideal escape from hustle and bustle. Sit and watch the city go by while indulging in freshly made jewel-coloured juices, paradisal cocktails or custom blended coffee and order from the all-day menu.

Heavenly sounds in Hemelhuijs... escaping steam from the espresso machine. Cappuccino foam and cinnamon, heavenly smells, heavenly tastes, steam fresh ciabatta. Crumbs on the table, asparagus on the palate, ginger on the nose, black salt, and green dhania. Red, red wine, ginger, and ripe tomato.

    Always a special treat to eat at Hemelhuijs. Beautiful decor and beautiful food well presented and very tasty. Service also great!

    My friend took me out for brunch I had poached eggs with an artichoke hollandaise on mossbolletjie bread with a side of bacon. The bread was divine, eggs and bacon cooked to the perfect temp. Followed by a Vietnamese coffee which was sweet and oh so yummy. I don't usually sweeten my coffee but this condensed milk coffee was like a warm hug. We took home salads for later. It was the beetroot, rocket, orange, goats milk cheese, date and almond salad. It was absolutely divine dressing not too strong letting all the combined flavours sing and the goats milk cheese creamy and not too funky. The salad is really a must 😋. We also brought home a slice of baked cheesecake which also was cheesy, most and creamy, perfect. Being on a quiet cobblestone road tucked away adds to the ambience. Outdoor dining in warmer weather. I highly recommend it
