For the love of food, Hemelhuijs opened its doors in October 2010 . The restaurant is a small oasis in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa and offers an ideal escape from hustle and bustle. Sit and watch the city go by while indulging in freshly made jewel-coloured juices, paradisal cocktails or custom blended coffee and order from the all-day menu.

Heavenly sounds in Hemelhuijs... escaping steam from the espresso machine. Cappuccino foam and cinnamon, heavenly smells, heavenly tastes, steam fresh ciabatta. Crumbs on the table, asparagus on the palate, ginger on the nose, black salt, and green dhania. Red, red wine, ginger, and ripe tomato.

    Best best best The food and interior is a sensorial feast. Every time you visit it’s a new but familiar experience. Can’t recommend highly enough.

    Great food as always and lekker spot. But the waitron really needs a lesson on wines. He didnt have a clue. Nice wines but couldn’t add value or suggestions.

    I think this may be the nicest restaurant I’ve ever been too, and I’ve been lucky enough to travel the word through my job and experience some amazing places, but this restaurant is on another level, wonderful staff and decor, but the food, oh my goodness, the flavours the attention to detail, it was utterly beautiful, I then had to hot foot it over to the shop across the road and buy a set of the coffee cups, years of coming to Cape Town & I’ve only just discovered this place, I’ll be back again and again thank you so much for taking such good care of us and the unforgettable delicious lunch 100/10
