The team responsible for this special, culinary experience on La Motte, is led by Chef Lara van Heerden in the JAN Franschhoek kitchen.     A truly magical experience from start to finish from the welcome fizz and oysters to the coffee and petits fours at the end of the evening. Welcome drinks are served in the fascinating original La Motte Manor House, from where you are driven in a vintage VW van to the iconic white cottage surrounded by lavender. A glass of delicious rosé is served on arrival and then guests make their way into the historic building, which is beautifully decorated, and are seated at the long communal table. This is not one of those tasting menus with endless small dishes, rather generous helpings of real food, shared family style. Every course was delicious with the highlight being the main course of leg of lamb with some of the best roast potatoes I’ve ever tasted. There is a great deal of food so go hungry! Perfect wine pairing throughout. The cheese course with lots of wonderful imported French cheeses was served outside at a beautiful candle lit table under the stars. The staff are welcoming, friendly and very solicitous. A little on the expensive side but for the whole magical experience and the quality of the food and wine, I would say well worth it. Would highly recommend.

    What a special lunch! Difficult to name something it compares to. The intimate setting, the beautiful surroundings, the food, it was great. Before going we were a bit hesitant because of the 1,5hr drive and some of the negative reviews but those that have written a negative review must have gone in expecting a La Colombe sort of dining experience. This is not that, this is a mix of fine dining and your exquisite Sunday roast in a special and very intimate setting. It’s an experience not to be missed. We’ll definitely go back and would 100% recommend to friends and family.
