The House of JC Le Roux is the leading home of sparkling wine in South Africa and offers an exquisite setting to explore the range of crisp, lively and refreshing sparkling and Méthode Cap Classique wines.

The cellar and vineyards nestle on part of the historic farm where French Huguenot, Jean le Roux, planted vines in Stellenbosch after fleeing Normandy in 1704. In 1982 The House of JC Le Roux was established as South Africa’s first dedicated sparkling wine cellar.

This was honestly the worst experience I have ever had with a wine farm. I have booked well in advance as I wanted to treat my family not from Cape Town to some of the best wine experiences. I have booked a total of 6 wine farms in an 8-day period. JC Le Roux was the last farm we visited. We had a wine pairing at Neethlingshof before we made our way to JC Le Roux. As I went up to the front desk, I told them I am aware that we were 45 minutes too early, but we can go to the restaurant area and have a cocktail while they prepare our table. The gentleman at the front desk said he will come and fetch me as soon as they are ready for us. At the restaurant we all ordered cocktails and drinks. Everyone received their drinks except me. The waiter later came back to ask what I ordered and once again told him the same cocktail as everyone else. By now everyone was nearly done with their drinks, but I still waited patiently. By the time I received my drink it was just past 15:00 and thought I will drink until front desk come and fetch us. By this time everyone already finished their drinks, and I tried to drink as fast as I could as I was scared, we will be called for our pairing. By 15:25 we have asked for the bill and a manager due to the slow service with the drinks. The waiter informed us the manager was too busy and cannot come to the table. We made our way to the front desk 25 minutes after our original booking time. No one fetched us and our table was still not ready. We waited at front desk for another 10 minutes and then escorted to our table. The communication from the waiter was non-existent. We sat there and did not know what was happening. Everyone pizzas came at different times, and we could not enjoy the tasting together. The pizzas ultimately were cold because we waited for each other. It was pretty embarrassing for me because I wanted to treat my guests. There was a lack of communication. It was overcrowded and definitely understaffed.
