Award-winning Chef Marcus and our talented team travelled 1,627 kilometres across the province — from the fishing docks of Kalk Bay to the vast plains of the Karoo, along the Garden Route, and back to Cape Town’s treasured Bo-Kaap — researching, tasting, and uncovering the essence of this remarkable region.

Now, Chef Marcus brings 100 years of Western Cape food culture to the table — celebrating the flavours, traditions, and stories that define it.

    Chef Marcus delivers unadulterated flavour with confidence and soul. From the smoked snoek with meebos and curry-leaf koeksister to the beautifully simple grilled crayfish, every bite carries depth, punch, and intention. The food is unmistakably Western Cape, yet it also reveals something more intimate—the heart of the chef behind the plate. The menu is cleverly curated, with thoughtful references to “voorhappie” and “padkos”—a lovely nod to Afrikaans, the most widely spoken language in the Western Cape, and a reminder that this experience is deeply rooted in place and culture. The wine pairings are exceptional, complementing each course perfectly and elevating the overall journey. Choosing a favourite dish was nearly impossible, but the braised oxtail paired with the exquisite Rijks Estate Reserve Pinotage came close to perfection—food and wine culminating in a truly memorable culinary moment. What makes the experience even more special are the stories woven throughout the meal: the bread course linked to Chef Marcus’s father, and the dessert course and pairing connected to Devon’s grandmother. These personal narratives give real depth and meaning to every course served. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, right down to the plates and cutlery—nostalgic pieces that instantly evoke memories of meals at our grandmothers’ tables, adding warmth, familiarity, and a sense of home to the experience. From the David Kramer vellies at the entrance, to the photographs from across the Western Cape, and the carefully curated soundtrack featuring only local artists, everything works in harmony to reflect the five E’s of the experience economy. This was more than a meal; it was a deeply considered, proudly local, and emotionally rich experience. A sincere thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable evening.
