The venue is absolutely beautiful. The menu has changed since we were at the venue a couple of months ago, and is not that appealing. The only item that appealed to the 12-year-old with us was the hotdog, which, when it came, looked so unappetising that she chose not to eat it (and we all agreed). The Asian salad was okay although the large pieces of chicken were a bit offputting. The hummus offering was good. We knew not to order the cakes from the fridge (baked goods get hard and unappetising when refrigerated) but did enjoy the peppermint crisp pudding and the chocolate mousse. There was no hand soap in the ladies' toilets when we arrived shortly before midday, and although we reported this immediately, there will still no handsoap when we left two hours later. That means not a single woman at that venue (including staff??) was able to properly wash her hands in all that time! Yuk! There were two staff members taking orders (an improvement on our last time, when there was only one, and the queues and long waiting times were infuriating), but only one on the drinks (hot and cold) station, which meant more long waits for drinks. We've given this venue two chances now, and neither was that great. We won't be going back.

We had a lovely picnic on the lawns for Fathers Day. Unfortunately, the platter was very dissapointing. We were meant to get 5 cheeses, however, our platter only came with 4. Way too much bread in comparison to the amount of cheese given. The meat was not the best. The chocolate brownie, wine and beers were all great.

Very disappointing cheese & “charcuterie “ platter for 4. - 1 pickled onion quartered, 4 small slices cold meat, 2 small lettuce leaves, 1 small tub chicken livers pate (good), 1 small tub garlicky cream cheese, 1 small round of parsley butter, 1 very old dry small slice Camembert?, 2 slices cheddar? Cheese, 1 small pat goats cheese (nice), small bunch grapes, 2 crispy rolls, plenty dry Melba? toast. All! This for 4 people. Still hungry, so got hot dogs - home made rolls - too sweet, no butter on roll with Vienna and tomato sauce and mayonnaise - not very good. So disappointed obviously! Grounds great for picnics - pity we can’t bring our own - so won’t be returning
