    A bad experience. As we arrived, 2 diners seemed very angry. They only had 1 main course served which they got half way through and the 2nd still didn’t arrive, so they eventually gave up and walked out. The same happened on other tables during the evening, where dishes were being delivered at random times and guests were unable to eat together. We also noticed my husband’s pizza was sat on the service counter for 10 mins, before the “floor manager” switched on a warming lamp over it! I asked to speak to him. When he came over to our table, his opening statement was, “I’ve been summoned?’” This is not an appropriate way to address customers. I explained that we had noticed our food standing for a long time and he said he was in the process of getting a fresh one made. At this point, it had been over 45 mins since we had our starter!! When the food came the pizza was very good. The veal, was nice. However, the sauce was congealed and had formed a skin. It was obvious that this food had been left standing in the kitchen for a considerable amount of time. The courgettes were burnt, oily and limp. When I mentioned this to the “floor manager” he said that’s how wood burned veg were supposed to be. So I guess he seemed to think delivering food in that state was acceptable. They had also overcooked part of the focaccia we ordered with the starter and tried to hide the burnt bits by putting them at the bottom of the bread basket and covering them with the good bits. Hilarious! The ambience in the restaurant was terrible. It was quite apparent that there were timing issues with the kitchen and the waitresses seemed disgruntled. They were not proactive or communicative when dealing with the delay in delivering our meals. The “floor manager”was defensive when I complained about my food saying, “I humbly apologise”. Again, unnecessary. Disingenuous and unprofessional. A real shame as we’ve always loved this restaurant. There are some big problems that need managing here.

We have investigated every aspect of your review and have taken corrective and firm action in all instances, where applicable.     Enjoyable evening - the food is always good and consistent. In our opinion it's one of the best restaurants in George - reasonable value, tasty food and good service. George restaurants are up and down - the quality varies, they are expensive with average service - La Campannina is an exception. Well done.
