    You know what to Expect when you visit La motte, Laid back sophistication. We were so impressed by the new Bakery we dined at. Slow roasted braised beef short rib with a complimentary glass of La Motte Cad Sav. It was perfect for the cold rainy day. The only thing I could fault was the bread and butter pudding. It was served with crème anglaise custard but was too dry. I asked the waitress for some apricot or marmalade jam and extra custard and ‘boom’ it was delicious! We celebrated my mom’s 75th birthday and everyone loved it! We look forward to trying out their breakfast menu next .

    My favourite breakfast place in the Western Cape. Eggs Benedict are just a must!! Fabulous coffee, wish I could buy their coffee in pods. Quick, friendly service, very happy & atmosphere. Try the carrot cake just sublime. Oh yes, lovely & warm inside on a crisp winters morning.

    We booked La Motte primarily because of the extraordinary bread‑making mastery of Markus Farbinger, whose work we followed loyally for years in Knysna. There is simply no better bread in the entire province. Our visit was a pleasure from start to finish. We enjoyed the full selection of breads and bakery treats on the Estate, and returning later for our booked lunch felt like the perfect continuation of the experience. The food was beautifully prepared, the coffee was spot‑on, and a glass of wine completed the picture effortlessly. The venue itself is exceptional — authentic, thoughtfully detailed, filled with art, and wrapped in a warm, welcoming ambiance. When you truly love good food, you immediately feel at home here. It’s clear that everyone involved in creating this space and preparing these dishes shares that same deep passion. We will be returning many times. I genuinely cannot point to a single flaw. Pricing is also very good and accommodating both deep and more shallow pockets.
