    Had a lovely lunch, I just think a cost of R185 for a small bowl of rather ordinary bean soup is a bit outrageous.

    When my French foodie friend is in town, I know not to offer her anything other than truly superb honest food. The Bakery at La Motte never disappoints. The garden setting is beautifully serene and the staff sincere and friendly. My preferred breakfast sanctuary in the wine valley.

    I had the Patti se Melt which was huge. The sourdough bread was too thickly cut. The free range patty was so dense it was like eating tough steak. My husband had the Steak pie which was very tasty. The meat filling was very tender. Just too much pastry. It would be better served in a dish with just a pastry covering on the top. He did enjoy the Pimms cocktail.

    Diabolical experience. I booked at the Resturant. Was not told the confirmation would come through on Dineplan as I made the booking directly with the restaurant! Called to reduce numbers from 8 to 6 only to be told there was no booking for me! I spoke to a Jermaine. When I complained as they had made an error booking me at the bakery, the rude, unsympathetic “manager” (NOT) spoke over me, laughed at me as I spoke and behaved like an untrained brat!!

    Very good breakfast and bakery products delicious, try the chocolate croissants! Many open tables yet online always shows fully booked? Would suggest bigger coffee cups though, they are tiny :-) But coffee is great.
