LUPA Osteria is a bustling Italian restaurant serving authentic food in a warm and inviting setting . Whether you want a delicious bowl of pasta on a random Tuesday, country fresh salad, wood-oven baked pizza or a big celebration dinner with friends, LUPA offers all this and more.

We pride ourselves in staying true to our Italian roots and in keeping traditional Roman cuisine alive. Each Lupa has a designated pasta making & drying room where our fresh pasta is hand-made daily. A wood fired pizza oven is used for truly authentic pizzas and for baking many other traditional dishes for that extra flavour and authenticity.

Our wines list is extensive and offers a great selection of local and imported wine, beer and spirits to accompany your food or have a beautiful cocktail at aperitivo hour!

    The menu was very basic. Would have liked to see more of a variety. Overall, the service and ambience of the place was good.

    We were very happy to have our year end party at Lupa Umhlanga on Saturday 29th November 2025, only for it to end with us feeling like thieves, our waitress Nomvelo firstly when asked to pack up our left overs was hovering over my niece who was feeding her 2month old baby, she no courtsey to start at the other end of the table with the packing off the left overs instead was on top off the baby and her mom, we told her that we are not comfortable with her packing up everything above the babies head and squeezing herself in between the baby and her mom, we then requested the bill, we were a table of 9,our bill came to R3450. 70,my niece, our receptionist and myself counted R3451 cash and then told Nomvelo she can close the table, instead off counting the money in front of us she took it away and came back saying, we were R500 short, yet our entire table saw us counting the cash, we then searched the table, floor and the area she took the cash too and found nothing, the manager Kenny was excellent explaining to us that she should have counted the money in front of us before leaving, we requested camera footage but they were off line, further insult to injury was an employee named Sam who was raising his voice at us saying this never happens, he was disrespectful and lacked any customer service, an overall very disappointing experience, the food took more than an hour for our mains to arrive, the waitress had no personal boundaries and Sam really should not be in hospitality . We never found the R500, we added another R200 to cover the meals and left the restaurant unhappy, definitely feel more training and customer service training is needed, no customer should leave your establishment feeling the way we did, the patrons going to Lupa Umhlannga this December watch your cash

    The food was good overall, but our waitress kept getting our order wrong. We ordered a pizza with bacon and avo as a starter but were served a Mexicano instead , this had to be taken back to the kitchen and a new pizza prepared. I also ordered a Grapetiser but was given an Appletiser. After placing our food order, she came back about 15 minutes later to say she was only then putting it through. We were in a bit of a hurry, so the service definitely needs improvement.

    Everything was great, from the start to finish. They plated our cake, brought it in at the right time, and the food was delicious.

    Lupa is my Husband and I's favourite restaurant, been a client from the previous branch in Hillcrest and we discovered the Umhlanga branch after the Hillcrest closure. Therefore it always meets our expectations and standard to a point where we have tried almost everything on the menu from our dietary preference. The service is always highly appreciated. KEEP IT UP!!!
