LUPA Osteria is a bustling Italian restaurant serving authentic food in a warm and inviting setting . Whether you want a delicious bowl of pasta on a random Tuesday, country fresh salad, wood-oven baked pizza or a big celebration dinner with friends, LUPA offers all this and more.

We pride ourselves in staying true to our Italian roots and in keeping traditional Roman cuisine alive. Each Lupa has a designated pasta making & drying room where our fresh pasta is hand-made daily. A wood fired pizza oven is used for truly authentic pizzas and for baking many other traditional dishes for that extra flavour and authenticity.

Our wines list is extensive and offers a great selection of local and imported wine, beer and spirits to accompany your food or have a beautiful cocktail at aperitivo hour!

    This was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. I clearly stipulated on the booking that 1. We were celebrating two birthdays 2. My husband had very specific, medical dietary requirements. Lupa Umhlanga didn't have a table booked for us, didn't acknowledge the birthdays and had no idea about the dietary requirements. We had to explain over and over that he cannot have any wheat products at all. The food - the restaurant should not open on Mondays - they had so many items out of stock, it was a joke - watermelon syrup for cocktails, carpaccio, canolies, ice cream (they ONLY had vanilla), and creme brulee. My "oven roasted prawns" looked like SLOP on the plate. My husband's chicken was dry and overcooked. My daughter's pasta was like glue. All 3 of us ordered starters - 2 x carpaccio, 1 x caramelised onion and feta focaccia. Only 1 carpaccio was served - they ran out of the item. The wrong focaccia was served. I had to remind the waiter that we had two birthdays at our table - only then did he bring two ice creams - with a WHEAT Cracker on my husbands! After explaining over and over the he cannot have wheat products - and no, he can't just remove the cracker - the food is now contaminated! It was really and unpleasant evening. Our money would've been spent better at Spur.

    Very friendly service and kitchen staff. They went out of their way to make our evening special. Always great going to this branch of Lupa

    My hake was tough, unusual for hake so I wondered was it Bassa? Was it old? That was disappointing. The chips were not up to the Lupa standard

    We love Lupa and eat there often. We’ve had some good experiences in the past and are disappointed about our recent experience. The service this past Sunday really left much to be desired. A mere pasta took over 30 minutes to come out and it wasn’t busy at all. We complained to the waiter but the manager didn’t bother coming out to explain. Instead, they offered us desert and it was so late on a Sunday. We’re not going back anytime soon because of this poor customer service.
