    What an evening! Exactly what we wanted to celebrate our daughters 30th whilst visiting Cape Town. Cannot fault a thing.

    We had dinner and entertainment at Mama Africa in Cape Town and overall it was a really fun and memorable evening. The atmosphere and vibe of the place were fantastic, and it definitely felt like an experience rather than just a meal. For starters, we tried the mopane worms which were certainly interesting to try! For mains, three of us ordered the crocodile steak. It was tasty and we enjoyed it, although once you get the meat off the bone there isn’t actually a huge amount there. We also ordered a chicken dish which was a bit disappointing as it arrived with only three small pieces of chicken. We were asked if we were happy to pay R80 per person for the entertainment, which included face painting and a drum session. The entertainment itself added to the lively atmosphere and we enjoyed taking part. However, we did feel it was a bit cheeky when the lady doing the face painting asked my partner directly for a tip. He felt a little pressured to give one, and when you’re already paying extra for the entertainment it would be nicer not to feel put on the spot. That said, these were fairly minor issues. Overall we had a great evening — the energy, music, and unique food made it a really enjoyable experience and one we’re glad we tried while in Cape Town.
