    Dear Dineplan. When we arrived at Moyo at 12h30, we were advised that we had no booking a corporate company had booked out the entire restaurant and obviously we were very surprised and very disappointed to be turned away with our international guests. We were not notified by anyone (in fact confirmed the appointment on Sat) prior to arriving and Moyo's reason was that their internet was down. I'd like an explanation for this extremely poor communication if possible please. Clearly there seems to be no communication between Dineplan and Moyo.

    I made a booking for 23rd November for lunch and got an sms confirming the booking - when I called to confirm the booking, I was told there is NO booking and they closed for a private function !!! Well done Moyo.

    We visited Moyo Kirstenbosch yesterday for our year-end function and my farewell. With a confirmed reservation for 14:30 and operating hours until 18:00, we expected the warm, magical Moyo experience — but unfortunately, it was the opposite. After enjoying our starters, our waiter, Delight, informed us that the kitchen would be closing in six minutes due to a private Vodacom function. This was the first time we heard anything about early closure, and no one mentioned it when we made the booking or when we arrived. The manager, Lucas, then came to our table and told us abruptly that if our order wasn’t placed within six minutes, we wouldn’t receive food. The tone was rude and dismissive, especially considering we had been there for less than 90 minutes. When I spoke to him privately, he simply said we were “late with our order,” with no apology or accountability for the lack of communication. As we were trying to decide what to order, staff began clearing the entire restaurant around us, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We even moved outside to allow them to continue clearing, but the manager approached us again to ask whether the waiter had told us to move. By then, we couldn’t even order drinks. What was meant to be a special, celebratory moment ended in frustration and disappointment. The only positive part of our experience was our waiter, Delight, who went above and beyond to remain professional and kind throughout the situation. This was not the Moyo experience we expected, and I sincerely hope management improves communication and customer care going forward.

    The food, value and location were the winners here. The waitering staff, not so much. We were ignored for 10 mins until the hostess, and who looked like a manager, came to ask us if we've been served as yet. This after 2 waitresses walked past us. Upon leaving, my wife needed to use the loo and asked one of the waitress where we she could find one and was abruptly shown where.

    It's always a lovely experience dining at Moyo. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the location is beautiful

    The balance of the ingredients and spices of vegetarian poke bowl is the best meal of our visit to Cape Town in the perfect surroundings of Kirstenbosch. Well done Moyo's chefs!
