Some of the best ideas are born in moments that don’t feel big at the time — and that’s exactly how Mud & Muse started. It was during a rugby game at Ellis Park, surrounded by the roar of the crowd, that two friends started dreaming out loud. We pictured a place where anyone could walk in, feel at home, and let their creativity spill out in whatever shape or colour it wanted to take. That small spark grew, piece by piece, until it became this — a space where art, coffee, and community come together in the most beautiful mess.

    Thank you very much for an awesome day! We celebrated our friend's birthday by enjoying a fabulous meal first and then we each painted an item of our choice. It sure was a beautiful, memorable day, thank you. We will definitely visit again soon. Henry promised to wait on us again - thank you Henry!

    I enjoyed my first time at Mud and Muse! The food was so good 😊. The waitress was amazing 🤩 made the experience so rewarding! My son enjoyed the kids facilities and I’m planning to come back to do my cup painting!

    We have been visiting Mud & Muse regularly since December 2025, and overall our experiences have been fantastic. The staff are excellent, the food is really good, and the overall atmosphere and experience are always enjoyable. We do, however, have a few concerns we would like to raise: The bathrooms could definitely use an upgrade, especially considering that we typically spend 4–5 hours per visit. The overall prices have increased quite drastically since December, which is unfortunately making it a more difficult choice for our regular get-togethers. We recently made a booking for my birthday, and my sister specifically asked whether we could bring our own cake. The owner advised that it would not be a problem, but neglected to mention that there would be a cake fee of R150.00. We feel this should have been communicated upfront. That said, we truly have enjoyed our time at Mud & Muse and appreciate the wonderful experiences we’ve had there. We may, however, need to reduce the frequency of our visits due to the significant price increases. Thank you to all at Mud & Muse
