Muratie is as old as history itself, lying at the foot of the Simonsberg with a view of Table Mountain, guarded over by ancient oak trees you will find this old 'ruin' a treasure to be enjoyed. The old fermentation tanks in the cellar with their tartaric encrusted walls, old carpets, wooden furniture and original art is where you will enjoy honest home food, good wine and great company.

NB: Muratie Wine Estate restaurant is only open from Wednesday to Sunday however our wine tasting is open Monday to Tuesday.

I was last at Muratie, about 2012 or 13 and I was so delighted to see the cobwebs have stayed in place! This place is a window into the past. Besides delicious wines, I think the tangible historicity is its greatest asset. Every wine has a name rooted in history and the tasting room staff know and relish relaying the stories with flair. I love that there was no music, just the sounds of birds and animals! We enjoyed the breakfast—the poached eggs were done perfect. The menu is simple (4 breakfast dishes) which was a joy given the choice paralysis I regularly experience at other restaurants. I love this place, I hope it lasts forever.

Dear Marina Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re honoured that you chose to return to Muratie after so many years, and it’s wonderful to know the character and history of the estate still resonate with you. Preserving the atmosphere and stories that define Muratie is something we care deeply about, so your appreciation means a great deal to us. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed both the wines and your breakfast. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. The Muratie Team

Ons het my 70ste verjaardag in styl gevier. Dit was gesellig, wel nogal lawaaierig want almal moes binne sit weens gietende reen. Almal het die kos geniet, en veral die trout!

Muratie Wine Estate responded on Mon 09 Jun 25:
Dear Elzabe Baie dankie dat julle jul spesiale 70ste verjaarsdag by ons gevier het! Ons is so bly om te hoor dat dit ’n gesellige en stylvolle geleentheid was, al het die weer nie heeltemal saamgespeel nie. Dit maak ons dag om te weet almal het die kos geniet, veral die forel! Ons hoop om julle binnekort weer te verwelkom, hopelik met sonniger weer volgende keer. Die Muratie Span
