Such a wonderful new addition to the Bertus Basson brand. I had to try the flat bread with oxtail jam and it didn't disappoint. The fact that the menu change according to the seasons will definitely insure that foodies will go back.

We had another great evening at Ongetem. The atmosphere was great and though busy, Bianca took great care of our table, making suggestions that were all excellent!

The oxtail jam and snoek taramasalata were outstanding, steaks good, but nothing can beat the grand marnier souffle.....our waitress was friendly and attentative and sweet. The value for money-EXCELLENT.

We so enjoyed our evening at Ongetem on Saturday. The service was excellent - warm, caring and personal. And the space is beautifully decorated. The pricing for experience is great value. The food was good, but didn't quite meet our expectations - breads and homemade butters, faultless; the ox tongue was a perfect combination of interesting flavours, loved that. However, I expected the gnudi to be lighter and fluffier, yet they were quite solid, and the yellow tail, a few minutes overdone. The white chocolate mousse was delicious, but I'm not sure the honeycomb is the best complement to it, and the pieces quite big to eat gracefully. Our meal ended up being quite carb-heavy, and that may have been our fault for not reading the menu more thoroughly, but it would have been helpful if our waitress had highlighted that the large dishes don't come with sides, and suggest some salad/vegetables. In all, we had a lovely evening, and will go back to give it another try.

To much wind and draft as a guest - excellent waiters in fast red shoes - all wine served cooked - what a waste of wine - where is the sommelier?

We are regulars at Spek en Bone and had to try Ongetem which was absolutely superb. In a great location, the food and service was outstanding. Just be aware that, unlike Chef Basson’s other restaurants, because of liquor license provisions at Ongetem, you cannot take any unfinished wine with you - after ordering a really good bottle of red, I had to leave more than half behind
