    We had a lovely meal at Ongetem - the food was deliciously prepared but on the rich side so when you order try and balance your dishes well. The service was friendly but the server got muddled with an order for espresso coffee at the end. He was running around a little and was not always focussed. We booked through Dineplan which showed availability only for 6pm - on arrival they were still vacuuming the floors in the restaurant and we were the only people there - this was a little confusing. It is a treat venue and Bertus Basson has outdone himself again with excellent attention to detail in the table settings, serving dishes etc... A wonderful experience.

    Very enjoyable, relaxed lunch for Father's day. Will add this restaurant to one of our favorites. Within easy walking distance to our apartment.

    We had the best Father’s day lunch. Food was great! Service was exceptional. The tuna starter my favourite - would need to go back soon

    Dinner at Ongetem was very disappointing. The food is terrible. We started with flatbread and raw tuna - the flatbread was enjoyable, but the avo and guava with the tuna was under-ripe - it could be a great dish. The biggest disappointment were our mains - the mussels & baby chicken. The mussels were poor quality and in an extremely salty sauce. The baby chicken was dry and tough. The service is also nothing special. The restaurant looks great, but the food is disappointing. With so many outstanding restaurants in Cape Town offering both excellent food and service, Ongetem, does not nearly measure up.
