    Hi, very disappointing dining experience for Cape Town, food was over priced and really underwhelming. Salt and vinegar fries without any hint of vinegar, that did not know whether they were a crispy or slap chip and just ended up dull and limp. Mustard dressed greens was iceberg lettuce shredded to within an inch of it's life doused in watery mustard dressing and then covered in piles of grated parmesan. Pork belly was dry and not particularly tasty and although the steak was well cooked the basting sauce made it feel like we had gone to Spur! A place that is clearly catering for tourists and not for locals but given the great food options in Cape Town and the opportunity to do something interesting and different in what is not a bad setting- seems like a pity!

    We had a great evening at Ongetem. The staff, service and food all 5star!! Portia took care of us and was excellent and knowledgeable with all her presentations. They know how to create a story around the food they serve. We've been there 3 times and felt that they've even improved from our previous visit. We had ribeye and fillet with salty fries, pumpkin tart and cauliflower. We will be back!

    Ongetem was a new venue for us. We were greeted with great enthusiasm and the service throughout the evening was excellent! The staff were friendly and attentive and the actual restaurant was architecturally wonderful. We ordered the prawn cocktail to start, it was delicious. I ordered the pork belly with pumpkin pie side and my husband ordered the braai fish with cauliflower. The pork belly was average and the braai fish did not taste of braai (the salsa it came with was tasty) all in all the food was average, with all the restaurants in Cape Town, competition is stiff and expectations are high. Sadly we will not be back
