Along with formal training in Europe, Chef Nicolene Barrow worked at the world-famous Le Gavroche Restaurant in London before setting up Orangerie at Le Lude. Here classical French cuisine is presented with a contemporary twist; the purist, disciplined approach of the European masters combined with a hint of individual, modern creativity where what is on the plate is presented looking as good as it tastes.

A seasonal menu offers the finest, freshest ingredients found in the forests, meadows, mountains and seas of the Cape, resulting in a selection of dishes offered in an environment conducive to making permanent Franschhoek memories.

    We came here upon a recommendation of a friend.... We had one of the best lunches in Cape Town. I, personally, did not know what to order because everything sounded so nice. After I made my order and looked around, I kept on regretting what I ordered... Not that mine wasnt good, mine was indeed spotless. But I wanted to try every single dish that they have on the menu - had I had the space or time! We had a great time and service reflects South African hospitality. We will come back!

    Everything about the atmosphere and service was impeccable. I thoroughly enjoyed morning tea. The order in which they served it first with the champagne and savory and then with the tea and sweets was perfect.
