Along with formal training in Europe, Chef Nicolene Barrow worked at the world-famous Le Gavroche Restaurant in London before setting up Orangerie at Le Lude. Here classical French cuisine is presented with a contemporary twist; the purist, disciplined approach of the European masters combined with a hint of individual, modern creativity where what is on the plate is presented looking as good as it tastes.

A seasonal menu offers the finest, freshest ingredients found in the forests, meadows, mountains and seas of the Cape, resulting in a selection of dishes offered in an environment conducive to making permanent Franschhoek memories.

    The best meal we had in Franschhoek and one of the best in SA. Service spectacular. Food delicious and beautiful. We had an early table so started the night in the restaurant alone and it was so delightful. Go. Book it. Go Quick

    Most beautiful restaurant set in an idyllic location. The food was incredible - especially the mussels. The service was excellent. It really is an experience to dine here. Highly recommend and cant wait to visit again.

    Our dinner at The Orangerie at Le Lude was perfect! Staff were knowledgeable about the food and catered to my dietary requirements with no issues at all. Would highly recommend to anybody in Franschhoek!
