When Michael Carter and Shayne Schutte transformed a former mechanic’s workshop on Kloof Street into Our Local, they created a relaxed, vibey neighbourhood café that quickly became a social hub. Now, Our Local Sea Point brings that same eclectic charm to the heart of the suburb. The space is smaller and more intimate than the original, but still features a central long table and a counter by the window to perch at while watching the Sea Point buzz. Rough-textured walls, vintage furniture, thrifted ceramics and a stone fountain celebrate the beauty of imperfection and the stories that old things tell.
The café offers a wholesome all-day menu, perfect for breakfast, lunch or a casual dinner. From green omelettes, smoked trout toast and classic egg-and-bacon rolls, to loaded chicken schnitzels, Korean chicken burgers and vegan options like charred baby cabbage with cashew sauce, there’s something for everyone. Thursday to Saturday evenings see the space transformed for long, easy dinners, cocktails and an extensive wine list.
A true community hub, Our Local Sea Point hosts creative gatherings, book clubs and private events. Whether you’re dropping in for a solo coffee, meeting friends, or celebrating a special occasion, the café offers a soulful, laidback dining experience with all the signature warmth of Our Local.
