My choice to book at Papa Boa Rivonia was based on a high google rating, but what a disappointment it was! ( really cannot understand how people evaluate food!). Started by asking the waiter if the chicken (which is a key Portuguese offering) was pre-cooked - he answered yes (done in the oven and then just warmed up/finished off on the "gas" grill - so you might just as well go to your nearest portuguese chicken take-out!). I then saw on the menu that all their grills [including the chicken] were prepared on "hot coals", but asked anyway - no, on the "gas" grill was the reply - coals to come!? (false advertising, etc., I said - not good enough). My portuguese rump steak was nicely presented but tough as nails, as was my colleague's espetada, so if you want chewy, tough meat, allbeit done as you aske, don't order steak! The chip 'rounds' were nice but cold, as they were thin-sliced rounds), but the sauce was pleasant although with almost no bite - just a bland cream based sauce - so again, why call it portuguese? At least they got the egg right. Finally, I asked for a double-shot cortado and was served a full glass (yes, a drinking glass!) of something resembling a latte, but more opaque! I then asked instead for a macchiato and got a â…” full normal coffee-cup of coffee with milk and froth - when asking the barman/barista about this and the previous cordato, he told me that he knew what it was and how to make these but the restaurant did not have the necessary coffee cups - my view, if you can't make it properly, don't say you can! The place on a Friday lunch time was empty - had 6 with us in it. The only thing I can recommend about Papa is their Peri Peri sauce, of which I purchased a bottle - now that was yummy (!) but nowhere near enough for me to ever go back, never mind even consider recommending the place - as to ambience, it feels like a pub, with loud music and with a bend towards Portugal, but under the bonnet, as they say, no substance to their claims.

Worst experience ! Waited an hour for a salad to be told later they are waiting for Feta. Asked about steaks was told the want to check which chef is in to recommend or not. We left after the salad which was old lettuce as well. Just not an A class establishment.

After booking a table inside and getting successful confirmation. We got to the restaurant only to be told that they had no table available for us. The lady said our name was not on the booking list but I confirmed it was successful on the APP. I then asked to see the booking sheet which she was reluctant to share only to find that our name was on the booking sheet with our "Name" and specified "inside" printed in black and white. Without trying to make a plan, she just ignored us. Hospitality is a very difficult business to be in at the moment and with service like this I won't be returning and will make sure that none of my family and colleagues do either.

Very few people in the restaurant why? My fish was delicious salad average. My friend’s Trinchado should have been served with roast potato slices.

Had a wonderful time at Papa Boa! Food was delicious and there was a live music to listen to which created a great atmosphere. Buffet had a variety of foods to choose from! Great service from the staff.
